Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a transformative force, unlocking numerous benefits across industries. Its future direction depends on us, including the action we take today to shape it for the public good. This includes artistic expressions that inspire action, creativity and a vision for a prosperous future.

The AI Hub for Sustainable Development is a collaborative platform accelerating sustainable AI-driven industrial growth in Africa. Co-designed by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and African stakeholders, the work of the AI Hub focuses on strengthening the foundations of local AI ecosystems.

Priorities of the AI Hub include improving access to high-quality and locally relevant datasets, closing gaps in specialized technical skills, reducing computing constraints, and creating an enabling environment to inspire and scale impactful innovations. Aligned with the Italy-Africa Mattei Plan, the AI Hub’s target sectors include energy, agriculture, health, water, education and training and infrastructure.

Your opportunity to inspire action

This open call invites submissions of inspiring and futuristic AI-generated artwork that visually translates your localized vision of the future of industrial growth with AI, highlighting innovative partnerships and the private sector as an engine of growth.

The call is open to artists, innovators, enthusiasts, visionaries and others who are passionate about AI and its responsible use for long-term development across African countries. Submissions are welcome from the fourteen (14) target countries of the Italy-Africa Mattei Plan (Algeria, Angola, Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Senegal, Tanzania, and Tunisia) as well as from Italy.

The artwork selected (one per country) will be showcased at the upcoming launch event of the AI Hub, presenting you with a unique opportunity to steer high-level multi-stakeholder dialogues through art on the future of AI for industrial growth. The pieces will also be publicly curated on the AI Hub’s platform and may be used in communication and advocacy activities across the AI Hub’s programmes. Submissions will be evaluated by a panel with expertise in art, creative design, human development, digital transformation and AI.
